Maria João Oliveira e Silva é Licenciada em História – ramo Educacional (FLUP, 2003), Mestre em História Medieval e do Renascimento (FLUP, 2006) e Doutora em História (FLUP, 2010).

Dedicou o seu doutoramento às áreas da Paleografia e da Diplomática, debruçando-se sobre a documentação da Sé do Porto no período medieval (A Escrita na Catedral: a Chancelaria Episcopal do Porto na Idade Média. Lisboa: CEHR, 2013).

O seu projeto de Pós-Doutoramento, sediado no CEHR (Centro de Estudos de História Religiosa) e no CITCEM (Centro de Investigação Transdisciplinar «Cultura, Espaço e Memória»), centrou-se no tema “Ensinar e aprender a escrever em Portugal na Idade Média”.

Foi investigadora contratada da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, desenvolvendo a sua investigação no CITCEM, através de um projeto relativo à análise dos níveis de competência gráfica das comunidades marítimas do norte de Portugal (entre a Idade Média e a Época Moderna).

Atualmente é investigadora integrada do CITCEM, onde coordenada o grupo de investigação “Sociabilidades e Práticas Religiosas”, e professora auxiliar do DHEPI (Departamento de História e de Estudos Políticos e Internacionais) da FLUP. Dedica-se, em especial, à investigação nas áreas da Paleografia e da Diplomática Medieval e Moderna, da História da Cultura Escrita, da História Custodial, assim como ao estudo e publicação de fontes documentais, nomeadamente cartulários.

Maria João Oliveira e Silva has a degree in History – Education (FLUP, 2003), a Master’s degree in Medieval and Renaissance History (FLUP, 2006) and a PhD in History (FLUP, 2010).

He dedicated his doctorate to the areas of Paleography and Diplomacy, focusing on the documentation of the PortoCathedral in the medieval period(A Escrita na Catedral: a Chancelaria Episcopal do Porto na Idade Média. Lisbon: CEHR, 2013).

His post-doctoral project, based at the CEHR (Center for the Study of Religious History) and CITCEM (Center for Transdisciplinary Research “Culture, Space and Memory”), focused on the theme “Teaching and learning to write in Portugal in the Middle Ages”.

She was a contracted researcher at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, carrying out her research at CITCEM, through a project on the analysis of the levels of graphic competence of the maritime communities of northern Portugal (between the Middle Ages and the Modern Period).

She is currently an integrated researcher at CITCEM, where she coordinates the “Sociabilities and Religious Practices” research group, and an assistant professor at DHEPI (Department of History and Political and International Studies) at FLUP. He is particularly dedicated to research in the areas of Medieval and Modern Paleography and Diplomacy, the History of Written Culture, Custodial History, as well as the study and publication of documentary sources, namely cartularies.
