Alexandre Matos é doutorado em Museologia pela Universidade do Porto. É investigador auxiliar na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, desde agosto de 2025, integrado no CITCEM – Centro De Investigação Transdisciplinar «Cultura, Espaço e Memória».

Foi diretor de investigação e formação na empresa Sistemas do Futuro e gestor do projeto Mu.SA – Museum Sector Alliance em representação do ICOM Portugal. É membro do projeto SPECTRUM PTe responsável em Portugal pela divulgação e tradução da norma SPECTRUM, encontrando-se atualmente a participar no projeto de tradução da versão 5 da norma.

Foi, desde 2016 e até 2022, membro da direção do CIDOC (Comité Internacional para a Documentação do ICOM) como membro regular e depois editor. Atualmente é co-responsável pelo grupo de trabalho sobre Documentação de Exposições e Performance.

Alexandre Matos has a PhD in Museology from the University of Porto. He has been an assistant researcher at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto since August 2025, as part of CITCEM – Transdisciplinary Research Center “Culture, Space and Memory”.

He was director of research and training at Sistemas do Futuro and manager of the Mu.SA – Museum Sector Alliance project on behalf of ICOM Portugal. He is a member of the SPECTRUM PTproject and is responsible in Portugal for the dissemination and translation of the SPECTRUM standard, and is currently participating in the translation project for version 5 of the standard.

Since 2016 and until 2022, he has been a member of the board of CIDOC (ICOM’s International Committee for Documentation) as a regular member and then editor. He is currently co-responsible for the working group on Exhibition and Performance Documentation.
