The project aims to create the conditions for building the interdisciplinary area resulting from the intersection between contemporary artistic research and heritage studies. Following on from the ART-MAP project “Thinking Baroque” (2017), there will be a themed seminar, “from gilded woodcarving to contemporary artistic practices”, with invited artists and academics with an interest in various theoretical and practical areas: from restoration and art history to contemporary artistic creation and experimentation with new media. contemporary artists from four countries, Portugal, Spain, England and the Netherlands, and researchers in the field of art history, criticism and restoration are invited to give their presentations in Braga on March 28-29, 2019. The program includes presentations by guest speakers from the University of Porto and the University of Minho, artist residencies, a workshop and a public presentation of an audiovisual show.
